Who should do this course?
This course is for you if you want to work in licensed venues throughout Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia or Western Australia. A licensed venue is an environment where alcohol is served such as in bars, hotels, beer gardens, restaurants, airlines, catered functions or wineries.
To complete this course you need:
A unique email address not previously used by another student.
A driver’s licence, passport, another form of photo-identity, such as an 18+ card or a student card that includes DOB and photo.
Unique student identifier (USI) – a federal government requirement. You can get a USI as part of your registration. Click here to visit the USI website.
Device – computer/laptop/tablet/smartphone with internet access and current internet browser.
Access to a Smartphone, digital recording device, webcam or video camera to video yourself answering questions.

You will be assessed using three methods:
- Multiple choice questions
- Written questions
- Video assessment to assess your communication skills.
Multiple choice questions
The course is broken down into small, manageable sections designed to improve your learning. At the end of each section is a multiple-choice quiz. Assessment for this course comprises online quizzes and case studies.
You are required to get all questions in a section before moving to the next section. You will be given feedback on questions you answered incorrectly.
If you answer any questions incorrectly (yes, even one!), you will be returned to the beginning of the assessment to attempt ALL the questions for that section again. You can review the learning materials during the assessment. You can take the test as many times as you need.

Read the question and type your answer in the box below. These questions draw from all parts of the course.
The 4 video assessments require you to refuse service to a range of customers including:
- those who appear to be under the effect of illicit substances or other drugs
- those in emotional or physical distress
- those with no food consumption during extended service of alcohol
- one compliant customer
- one customer who refuses to leave.
You are required to be 100% visible in each video assessment. We match the person in the video, to the photo ID you upload during the ID verification process.
To complete the video questions, you need one (1) – only one – of the following:
- Video camera from which you can upload a file, or
- Smartphone with internet access and video camera.
Record in the LOWEST resolution possible. Detailed instructions of how to use the video software is in the course. It is very easy.

SITHFAB002 PROVIDE RESPONSIBLE SERVICE OF ALCOHOL
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to responsibly sell or serve alcohol.
Responsible practices must be undertaken wherever alcohol is sold or served, including where alcohol samples are served during on-site product tastings. This unit, therefore, applies to any workplace where alcohol is sold or served, including all types of hospitality venues, packaged liquor outlets and wineries, breweries and distilleries.
The unit applies to all levels of sales personnel involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor sales persons selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; and supplier sales representatives. The unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.
The unit incorporates the knowledge requirements, under state and territory liquor licensing law, for employees engaged in the sale or service of alcohol.
Certification requirements differ across states and territories. In some cases all people involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises must be certified in this unit. This can include the licensee and security staff.
This unit covers the RSA skill and knowledge requirements common to all States and Territories. Some legislative requirements and knowledge will differ across borders. In some cases after completion of this unit, state and territory liquor authorities require candidates to complete a bridging course to address these specific differences.
Those developing training to support this unit must consult the relevant state or territory liquor licensing authority to determine any accreditation arrangements for courses, trainers and assessors.
|1. Sell or serve alcohol responsibly.||1.1.Sell or serve alcohol according to provisions of relevant state or territory legislation, licensing requirements and responsible service of alcohol principles.
1.2.Where appropriate, request and obtain acceptable proof of age prior to sale or service.
1.3.Provide accurate information to customers on alcoholic beverages according to organisation or house policy and government legislation.
1.4.Assist customers with information on the range of non-alcoholic beverages available for purchase.
1.5.Identify issues related to the sale or service of alcohol to different types of customers, especially those at risk, and incorporate them into sales or service.
|2. Assist customers to drink within appropriate limits.||2.1.Prepare and serve standard drinks or samples according to industry requirements and professional standards.
2.2.Use a professional manner to encourage customers to drink within appropriate limits.
2.3.Recognise erratic drinking patterns as an early sign of possible intoxication and take appropriate action.
2.4.Monitor emotional and physical state of customers for signs of intoxication and effects of illicit or other drug use.
2.5.Where appropriate, offer food and non-alcoholic beverages.
2.6.Decline requests for alcohol to be dispensed in a manner that is irresponsible and advise customers of the reasons for the refusal.

3.2.When assessing intoxication, take into account factors that may affect individual responses to alcohol.
3.3.Identify customers to whom sale or service must be refused according to state and territory legislation.
|4. Refuse to provide alcohol|| 4.1.Refuse sale or service in a professional manner, state reasons for the refusal, and where appropriate point out signage.4.2.Provide appropriate assistance to customers when refusing service.
4.3.Where appropriate, give customers a verbal warning and ask them to leave the premises according to organisational or house requirements, the specific situation, and provisions of state or territory legislation and regulations.
4.4.Use appropriate communication and conflict resolution skills to handle difficult situations.
4.5.Refer difficult situations beyond the scope of own responsibility to the appropriate person.
4.6.Promptly identify situations that pose a threat to the safety or security of colleagues, customers or property, and seek assistance from appropriate colleagues according to organisational policy

Your internet connection dropped out before sending our system the payment confirmation code.
Send an email to email@example.com with your Eway receipt and the courses will be added to your account.
Download your Statement of Attainment or Certificate of Completion
Beside the name of the course you have completed is a paperclip (in the certificate column), click the paperclip to download, save and print your certificate.
I purchased more than one course, how do I log into the other courses that I purchased?
Log into your “My Training” account.
To do this, go to Log In from the far right of the screen our website, enter your email and password. From the ‘My Training’ screen, simply click on the course name to start.
In what format are my certificates? Can I save them?
The certificates are in PDF format. You can save the attachment to your hard drive, portable hard drive or memory stick.
Can I print the certificate?
Yes, simply open the PDF attachment and print it.
I cannot find my Statement of Attainment or Certificate. How do I get another copy?
Simply log into your training account and re-print them.
Is there an age limit to complete online RSA & RSG courses?
There is no upper or lower age limit for completing RSA or RSG training. However, if you are under 18 years old, you may have limited vocational outcomes after completing this course, as some states require you to be 18 years old to work in a licensed venue.

How do I enrol?
Simply click the “start now” button, complete the student details, and accept the terms and conditions then proceed to the payment page. Once your payment is complete, you will be taken straight to your “My Training” screen. Simply click the name of the course to begin.
When can I start the course? Do I need to receive an email to start the course?
As soon as your payment is processed you are taken straight to “my training” screen. Read the on this page to learn how to access your “My Training” account.
You will receive an email with your username, password and course details. This is for your reference only. Please check your spam/junk files if you cannot find it. However, you do not need this email to begin the course.
Why do I need to enter my date of birth during enrolment?
We are required to verify your identify. It is a government requirement that we capture this information.
How will my name appear on my certificate?
Our system will print your name EXACTLY as you enter it into the enrolment screen. Please take care to spell your name correctly and use capitals correctly.
What happens if I enter the wrong information during enrolment? Can it be changed?
Simply send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and we can amend the information.
Remember to be careful when entering your information; our system will print on your certificate EXACTLY what you enter at the enrolment screen.

Do I have to finish the course in one session?

How do I log back into a course?

What type of computer can I use?
You do not need to install software, so it does not matter which type of computer you use. You can use any computer that connects to the internet
Can I use a computer other than my home computer?

How will I know if I got the question right?
At the end of all the questions, will be given a summary of the questions you got wrong. If you got any questions wrong, you need to complete the whole assessment for the section you are on before you move onto the next course. Yes, even if you only got one wrong.
